Who Makes This Site? Why?
This website is created and maintained by volunteers in the border aid community. We made this website to collect information and tools relevant to our mission; as an informal network of individuals and organizations, formal and informal, we did not previously have a common collection of these things to share with friends, family, migrants, and new volunteers.
As this website is maintained by volunteers, it is updated with a frequency varying between every few days to every 1-2 weeks.
For a more thorough introduction to the border aid community, please refer to the What's Happening? page
What Can I Find in Each Section of the Website?
- Home - designed as a landing page for migrants, making information available in many languages. Also contains a "Download Center", where volunteers can save all versions of the flyers for migrants
-
What's Happening? - designed as an introduction to open-air detention sites and mutual aid at the border for our friends, family, and neighbors who may not be familiar with the phenomenon. This page is meant to be a single, easy link to share with someone, to explain what's happening and what we do about it.
The news articles collected on this page are also available as an RSS feed - How Can I Help? - collects information and links related to how friends, family, and neighbors can participate in the border aid community, by volunteering, donating, and otherwise.
- Learn More - collects media exploring the historical context of the phenomenona of open-air detention sites and border aid.
- Lessons Learned - collects resources and experiential knowledge from our community that may be useful to other communities dealing with similar phenomenona. This information is divided into sub-pages by topic.
